Christian Meditation. Since it makes a difference.
Reflection. Support for the fatigued. Solace for the desolate. Mitigating for uneasiness, help for lose hope.
For most Christians, "God" is an obscure "out-there". Words on a page, a thought amid petition time at chapel and with companions. We may even now seek after help "in-here", however for most, there is minimal genuine relationship, little trust in something genuine, no experience of solace and delight.
Tozer says all that needs to be said - and he stunned me to my toes when I read it: "for a great many Christians, all things considered, God is not any more genuine than He is to the non-Christian. They experience life attempting to love a perfect, and be faithful to an insignificant rule."
That makes me extremely upset since it's valid. It stunned me since I thought I was the special case who at any point felt that way!
Have you at any point felt that aloneness, that 'attempting however never coming to'? I beyond any doubt did. I felt blame - yet I never felt cherished. I felt yearning, however not comfort; fear, but rather not security; alone, but rather not held.
Reflection opens a space in our souls, so we can encounter His adoration.
Not simply reflection itself, by chance. It might comfort you just to ruminate and feel physically warm and full- - however I want to rest in my breath, as non-Christian reflection will have you do, and let that be the whole of my expectation. My breath will end. There is no solace there. There is no expectation for a future past my self.
